Who is Can Sport Shoes Co.Ltd ?

Can Sports Shoes Co,. Ltd is a Taiwanese garment factory located in Samaky Meanchey district, Kampong Chhnang province.  The collaboration between Sipar and Can Sports Shoes Co.Ltd began in 2016 with the setting up of a Library Learning Center (LLC) in the factory, accessible to 7000 workers. But Can Sports wanted to go further and commit to a social project, targeting the nearby factory community through mobile library visits. In 2017, Can Sports Shoes and Sipar also improved the Sethey primary school library by providing it with new skills and reading materials .

For 2019, Can Sports Shoes and Sipar have broadened their ambitions by setting up a referral library in Hun Sen Kraing Sramo high school in Kampong Chhnang. As well as training librarians, various activities have been planned for the 1000 high school students, including vocational orientation sessions by teachers/experts, CGTI, GMAC and STEM/TVET awareness sessions with Smart Axiata. Indeed, Can Sports Shoes will send experts/staff to give lectures about their work in the factory. They will also identify potential students to study a short-term CGTI and improve their job prospects and enter the garment sector job market.

Why and what is a vocational orientation corner ?

In remote areas, high school students, in particular grade 12 and grade 11 students receive very little information about universities and career paths, thus they are lost after graduating from high school. A vocational orientation corner in a library can answer questions and prepare them for entering into the job market. The library corner will offer students different kinds of resources about university studies, jobs and careers (books, flyers, videos, websites). The vocational orientation corner as well as all the planned activities, will definitely guide students in how to choose their job and career or appropriate major subjects for further university education.
