Playground libraries for children in hospitals

Since 2009, and thanks to a partnership with UNICEF, reading and recreational corners for young patients in paediatric wards in provincial hospitals and in Phnom Penh’s paediatric hospital have been equipped and put into service. Teams from Sipar have ensured the training and monitoring of the playground-library facilitators. A renewal of the partnership has meant that further reading corners in two health centers could be opened in Ratanakiri and Steung Treng district.

Building on this experience, between 2012 and 2015 Sipar established educational and reading activities led by an educator in the “Pavillon des enfants” (children’s ward) in the cardiology department at Calmette Hospital sponsored by La Chaîne de l’Espoir.
